The Daily Graphic expresses the need for people to embrace the new normal at work. It says as employers and employees grapple with how to work, both remotely in the office, all the while keeping safe, new strategies are forming to accommodate all the changes. It says traditional management methods for office environments are sub-consciously sensory-based. According to the paper, productivity is often confirmed when one sees an employee head down at his or her desk or hear a sea of voices and ringing phones, and over achievement is signified by an employee arriving early and leaving late. According to the Graphic when many leaders do not have access to these virtual checks, they are at a loss on how to measure productivity. The paper says to remedy this, managers should, instead, focus on results, such as deliverables, learning’s and reports. These enable workers to prove their productivity, with or without local supervision.
The Ghanaian Times says strict adherence to the health protocols in schools including wearing of face mask, washing of hands and social distancing must be followed due to at least 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in secondary schools over the last few days. The paper expects government to ensure that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and hand hygiene items are provided as promised as a matter of urgency. The paper commends the President for directing a sub-committee of the COVID-19 taskforce to oversee the prevention of the virus spread in schools. The paper calls on all school heads and old school associations to be vigilant and support their alma mater with PPEs and sanitary items as the fight against COVID-19 intensifies.
