African Geological Scientists attend earthquake data analysis course in Accra

Twenty-six Geological Scientists from 22 African countries are attending a five-day course on earthquake data analysis, hazard assessment and risk mitigation.

The training focuses on current scientific knowledge and available technology for monitoring and mitigating the effects of earthquakes .

Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi at the opening ceremony, called on African government to re-evaluate their seismic hazard assessments to improve on building codes.
