African governments asked to invest in innovative solutions

African governments have been challenged to invest in innovative solutions to change their development pathways. This will require new and smart approaches in addressing environmental challenges.
Morocco Minister of Environment, Dr Nezha El Quafi who said this at the end of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment, AMCEN in Kenya, noted that private sector partnership plays a critical role in turning environmental policies into concrete actions.
The Director General of WHO, Tedrod Adhanom called on African governments to put human and environmental health at the center of policy making. Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Keriako Tobiko challenged participants to come out with innovative ways of enhancing wealth from the continent’s rich biodiversity in the forest and marine resources.
Ministers at the conference agreed to support Pan-African Platforms on the environment to promote and share experiences and solutions across the continent.
