A daughter of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has completed two weeks of self-isolation and been reunited with the first family, a spokesperson said.

She had returned from the UK last month and gone into isolation in compliance with the country’s directive to passengers arriving from countries with confirmed coronavirus cases.

Aliyu Abdullahi, the spokesperson for First Lady Aisha Buhari, said she was “normal, healthy and well”, but did not disclose her identity.

The first couple have five children together: four daughters and a son.

Mr Abdullahi said the president’s daughter had gone into isolation despite her “privileged” status.

The first lady shared a photo of her reunion with her daughter:

Nigeria, which has 162 active cases of coronavirus, closed its borders on 23 March after banning all international flights.

Three states, including the capital Abuja, are in a two-week lockdown.
