Mauritania: Covid cases Spike- Schools shut down

Mauritius has closed all schools as the number of Covid cases continues to rise. The Education Minister Leela Devi Dookhun-Lutchoomun said all classes would be held online from November 11, 2021.

The country has recorded 1,856 cases of Covid in learning institutions since October 18. The country has recorded a recent surge in the number of Covid deaths, with 42 occurring in the past week.

Fourteen of the dead were below 60 years. About two-thirds of the Mauritian population have been fully vaccinated. Health officials said 61 fully vaccinated people have died in hospitals across the country since January.
