The couple wed in 1978, long before President Samia entered the sphere of national politics. They shared four children, consisting of three sons and one daughter. Their daughter, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, pursued a political path and currently serves as a member of Zanzibar’s House of Representatives within the National Assembly.
