Fixing the Base: Lessons from 2024 and the Road to Rebuilding NPP’s Strongholds

Healing internal fractures, recognizing grassroots sacrifice, and abandoning the politics of complacency will dictate whether the opposition, New Patriotic Party can successfully mount a formidable challenge in December 2028. To reverse this trend, future party executives he ssaid, must adopt a radically inclusive and magnanimous approach to leadership.

Mr. Oduro stressed that the party must actively reach out to individuals who left or were sidelined in past cycles, bringing everyone back into a unified camp.

Unity cannot merely remain a campaign slogan; it must manifest in concrete efforts to reward loyalty, empower the youth, and work collaboratively across differing internal factions.

The dialogue also highlighted the critical logistical and moral support that diaspora members continuously extend to local constituencies ahead of national polls. Beyond mobilizing financial resources, international branches maintain constant communication with families at home, countering misinformation and encouraging high voter turnout.

Aligning these external support systems with grassroots organizing creates a resilient shield against political setbacks and fortifies the party’s operational capacity.

As delegates prepare for upcoming internal congresses, the overarching message from the diaspora leadership is clear: performance, humility, and accessibility must be the primary metrics for choosing executive officers.

By selecting leaders who genuinely respect the grassroots and refuse to impose top-down dictations, the party can restore public confidence.

Only through genuine reconciliation and structural discipline can the political tradition re-emerge as a trusted vehicle for Ghana’s future prosperity.
