The Daily Graphic welcomes the country’s membership of La Francophonie urging it to work towards the ideals for the benefit of the nation as well as the entire Francophonie.  The paper says the importance of international organisations to the economic, social and political development of countries cannot be overemphasised as they help to maintain global peace and stability.  It says as the country is bordered by all French speaking countries, observers have wondered why Ghana has not made enough efforts to have closer interaction with its neighbours.  The situation has arisen because of the inability of most Ghanaians to speak French.  The paper says knowledge of French will place Ghanaians at a more advantaged position to be considered for high level international assignments.  French will also help integrate Ghana with neighbours to enhance cross-border trade.  Daily Graphic therefore applauds the President’s promise to promote the French language in Ghana.

The Ghanaian Times calls on the government to sustain the fight against open defecation until all citizens without latrines are provided with the facility. The paper believes that the menace is causing the country to lose so much money particularly in the tourism sector. It says fighting against open defecation will help stop Ghana from losing as much as 79 million dollars as well as attract tourists to the beaches. The Ghanaian Times therefore commends the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources and all Stakeholders for the initiative in providing the Digni-Loo latrine facility, as well as Duraplast for their support in designing the facility. The paper hopes Ghanaians will embrace the facility provided for them by the country’s development partners to win the fight against open defecation.
