The Daily Graphic is concerned about the exposure of the people to chemicals and toxic substances such as pesticides which can lead to cancer. This follows another news item about Otaten, a suburb of Odorkor in Accra on the illegal production of chemical products. The paper is worried that the manufacturers are adamant, and are seriously engaged in the illegal act. It says apart from these illegal manufacturers operating without certificates and permits, the act is conducted in a densely populated area, something that violates the Environmental Assessment Regulations. (LI 1652). The Graphic says that everybody is at risk of chemicals through breathing and eating therefore the public should not think that the effect of the actions of these illegal chemical manufacturers are limited to Otaten. It therefore calls for more effective ways to stop these illegal manufacturers once and for all to save lives.
