As the world marks Menstrual Hygiene Day today, the Daily Graphic adds its voice to calls on government to waive the tax on imported sanitary pads so that the deprived can afford it. It says global reports indicate that more than 130 million girls miss school during their menstrual periods due to their inability to purchase sanitary pads. The paper further states that due to improper menstrual hygiene management, many girls stand the risk of contracting infection and diseases as they are unable to properly clean themselves. While the Graphic urges the government to abolish the tax on sanitary pads, it calls for a more sustained educational programme for women on issues of Menstrual Hygiene Management.

The Ghanaian Times urges government to involve the youth in the affairs of the country and the maintenance of peace as issues that impede their progress presents worries that threaten world peace. The paper is of the view that young people who have the knowledge, skills and mindset to better the lives of people must be given the opportunity to be productive. It says certain public offices can be designated for experienced old people to serve as advisors and consultants but other sectors such as Education must always be handled by young brains for effective results.
