Several sectors including provision of one million jobs captured under NDC’s BIG PUSH agenda

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to return all seized mining concessions illegally seized to their owners. He said the party will also track down all missing excavators.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s Manifesto in Accra, the flagbearer in his list of promises said the next NDC administration will invest and revamp local businesses. According to him, focusing on Ghanaian businesses will help local businesses thrive, hence, growing the economy in the process.

Mr. Mahama touched on the $10 billion ‘BIG PUSH’ which according to him will stimulate the economy. Key areas under the big push include providing infrastructure, completing the eastern corridor roads, expanding the railway networks among others.

Meanwhile, the NDC says it will expand the reach of the Free Senior High School programme if it secures victory in the upcoming general election.

The promise which was captured in the party’s policy document said that the Free SHS programme will be made to cover students in private Senior High Schools in underserved and deprived areas.

The party said it will abolish the double track system. Vice presidential candidate of the party Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang made this known at the launch of the party’s manifesto in Accra.

She announced that tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year will pay only half fees under an NDC government.

The NDC manifesto also promised to provide “free laptops for tertiary students to facilitate participation in virtual classes” should it be given the nod on December 7, 2020.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang also spoke on the extension of maternity leave to four months and 7 days for paternity leave.

The NDC’s vice presidential candidate also touched on free primary healthcare for rape victims.
