The outgoing Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari, has appealed to stakeholders and opinion leaders in the Navrongo Traditional area to lend the needed support to the Newly enkinned Navro-Pio.

He said the traditional system of governance remains the best bet for accelerating development and that is why it is deeply fixed in the National administration system.

Mr. Bukari who was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Paramount chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Navro-Pio Pe Dennis Balinia Adda, charged the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, public agencies in the area, private sector, NGOs and CSOs to support the course of the Navro-Pio and seek his advice on matters of importance in the area.

The Navrongo skin is of age and everything must be done to protect its sanctity and dignity. Navrongo is rising and has to be led by the Navro-Pio and his elders to reach the highest altitude. This responsibility should spur them on to quickly settle down to work. Though the elders and kingmakers have done well so far, they are not done yet. They have the bigger duty now to support the Paramount chief to succeed in his reign.

The outgoing Upper East Regional Minister assured the Navro-Pio and the entire traditional council of the unflinching support of President Nana-Addo’s administration.

He said the NPP government remains committed to working with the chief and the Traditional Council to take Navrongo to the next level.

The Navro-Pio, Pe Dennis Balinia Adda, in his inaugural speech called on the people of Navrongo Traditional Area both home and beyond to remember that they have moved on as one people and come this far not only because of the ability or vision of their leaders but more importantly because they the people have remained faithful to the ideals of their forebears in truth and in the shared aspiration to work with determination for progress and peace individually and collectively.

The Paramount Chief was quick to add that time has come for them to set aside their differences and to reaffirm their enduring spirit to choose the better part of their history.

Pe Dennis Balinia Adda said with the efforts of his elders, divisional chiefs and community chiefs he intend to lunch an educational endowment fund to support brilliant but needy students in the Traditional area.

He expressed gratitude to the head of family and elders of the Royal clan of Yufebia and their cousins – Doba, Nangalikinia, Wura with whom they share tradition and custom, and the eight divisional chieftains of Doba, Wusungu, Bavugunia, Pindaa, Nyangua, Manyoro, Yua and Natugnia for accepting the “odious duty” conferred on them by tradition and custom.

The ceremony brought together sons and daughters of Navrongo Traditional Area including Chiefs, Queen Mothers, Ministers of State and MPs.
