Legendary Ghanaian Highlife Musician, Abrante3 Amakye Dede, has made a shocking revelation on his crowning of the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Artiste of the Year, Kuame Eugene as the next king of Highlife music.
According to Amakye Dede, though he played a significant role in the music development and growth of Kuami Eugene, the crowning was against his will and that, he was forced into doing that some three years ago.
“Though I did that, it was not my will to do so. I even gave the crown they gave me to someone to put it down but they later asked that I crown him, and I did it, he revealed.
He made this revelation during an interview on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, on the Asaase Breakfast Show in Accra.
He noted that, during Kuami Eugene’s period at the MTN Hitmaker reality show, he was a voice coach to the budding artiste.
He added that, initially, he didn’t want to do the crowning, but after compulsion by the event organizers, he had no option but to put the crown on Kuami’s head and pronounce him the next king of highlife.
