Arrow will officially end after season eight, which will consist of a reduced number of episodes.
The CW superhero show, starring Stephen Amell, originally began the network’s DC Comics TV universe, which also consists of Supergirl, The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow.
It’s now been announced the previously confirmed eighth season will be the show’s last, which will run for a shorter ten episodes.

In a joint statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), showrunner Beth Schwartz and executive producers Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim said: ‘This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind.
‘We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and – more importantly – the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.’
It’s believed Arrow’s end is set to mark the transition period into a second phase of the DC TV universe, with a new Batwoman series in the works starring Ruby Rose.
It leaves the question of whether other shows in the current DC line-up could face the axe too, with The Flash recently renewed for a sixth season. The cancellation of Arrow follows a number of other axed superhero shows in recent months, with Netflix and Marvel’s The Punisher and Jessica Jones both given the chop.
