Augustus Koranteng Kyei, a Ghanaian blogger popularly known as Koby Kyei in an interview with Valerie Danso on the GTV Breakfast Show said the narrative about blogging over the years has now changed.

From just single blogs, bloggers have websites like, News Portals and the like to serve the public during breaking news and the like.

Blogging is basically sharing one’s opinion on social media about any issue and it could be entertainment, food, fashion, politics and others but, has now grown past the level of just sharing opinions or ideas, according to Koby Kyei.

He said, gone are the days when only one news outlet served the public. ‘’We had only one television station and people waiting for GBC News for stories, but now it has become a competition because there are numerous television stations as well as bloggers who want to come out with their stories to be published’’.

Mr. Kyei pointed out that the competition has now become how to get the views, subscribers on YouTube Channels and followers which has resulted in people coming up with fake stories or news.

According to him, ‘’Some bloggers deceive the public with their headlines just to get a lot of clicks – bait or traffic, just because some people only read headlines without reading the story and bloggers base on those facts to capsulize on it’’.

He advises that in as much as there seems to be a free license for bloggers, there should be regulation, disciplinary and some ethical meter for them to follow.

“We need to be responsible for the materials and content we put out there”, Koby Kyei reiterated.
