Afrobeats heavyweight Burna Boy and global pop icon Shakira have hit a remarkable new milestone, with their 2026 World Cup collaboration, “Dai Dai,” crossing one billion views on YouTube.
The song, released on May 23, has emerged as one of the biggest musical highlights surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing together Burna Boy’s distinct Afrobeats sound and Shakira’s Latin-pop appeal.
Its official video, hosted on Shakira’s YouTube channel, has now joined the platform’s billion-view club, making “Dai Dai” the first song released in 2026 to reach the landmark.

The collaboration received an additional boost from its association with the World Cup, with Burna Boy and Shakira taking the stage to perform the song during the tournament in Mexico City, including the opening ceremony and the final’s halftime show.

Beyond the numbers, the achievement marks another major moment for Afrobeats on the international stage. Burna Boy’s involvement further highlights the genre’s expanding reach and its growing presence in major global music projects.
For Shakira, the achievement adds another billion-view video to her catalogue, bringing her total to 10.
“Dai Dai” also features on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, which includes contributions from several leading African artistes, among them Davido, Ayra Starr and Rema.
