Marriage is God’s own vocation instituted for man, for procreation and companionship in fulfillment of his word. It is suppose to be full of love, peace and joy with mutual respect as it entails in scripture.

Yet many marriages ‘today’ suffer violence frustrations and rejections simply because human understanding of the vocation, behavioral patterns and expectations are often not in tandem with the institution.

The marriage institution is a sacrificial vocation that one has to embrace with wholeheartedness and accept the conditions to be able to abide in the institution just as Christ sacrificed himself on the cross of Calvary for mankind.

These were the words of Rev. James Kwame Awuni, when the Deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament for the Tempane Constituency  Joseph Dindiok Kpemka tied the knot with Pascalina Aflelikpok Awog-Badek at a colorful ceremony in a well attended ceremony at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, in Bolgatanga the Upper East Regional capital.

In his opening remarks the officiating Pastor Rev. Awuni of the Peniel Congregation indicated that the gathering was meant to cement an already existing relationship, and invited God to take center stage of the marriage.

Marriage, like any other profession, he said has its own difficulties and indicated that it takes humility, appreciation, tactfulness and tenacity of purpose to stay through to the glory of God.

He stressed that there is no marriage devoid of problems and gave the assurance that the grace of God abounds for those who fear the Lord.

Rev. Awuni advised the couple to put self-esteem and pride out of the marriage and let the word of God guide them through sacrifice in order to enjoy the marriage.

During exhortation, Rev. Martin Lamisi blessed the sparkling high carat gold rings of the couples before the knot was tied.

The couple were later prayed for by all the Pastors for God’s strength and protection. In attendance were some colleague Members of Parliament across the political divide, Municipal and District Chief Executives, traditional authorities among others to bond the friendship of leadership in the country.
