Ghana has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding its cultural and historical legacy at the ongoing 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Paris.

Representing the country was the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who delivered her address, highlighting Ghana’s ongoing efforts to preserve its heritage while fostering innovation in the cultural sector.

In her statement, she underscored the country’s dedication to conserving the Forts and Castles of Ghana as well as implementing the UNESCO Culture|2030.

She also spotlighted initiatives such as the “Black Star Experience,” aimed at promoting Ghana’s creative industries and enhancing its standing within Africa’s growing cultural economy.

She expressed Ghana’s commitment to fostering unity within the Africa Group on matters of heritage policy

“We’re not just preserving the past, we’re shaping the cultural future,” she said

The Minister further expressed strong support for UNESCO’s African heritage strategy and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to aligning with global frameworks for the protection of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee brings together cultural leaders, experts, and policymakers from around the world to discuss the protection and promotion of global heritage.
