Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo Baah has been laid to rest following her final funeral rites at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The funeral rites are currently underway, with family members, friends, colleagues from the creative arts industry and mourners gathering to pay their final respects to the actress.
Her husband, musician Choirmaster, has joined the family in mourning the actress, who died on May 24, 2026, at the age of 42 after a two-year battle with cancer.
The funeral has also attracted several prominent figures from Ghana’s entertainment industry, including actresses Yvonne Nelson and Jackie Appiah, actor and politician John Dumelo, Roger Quartey, Sonnie Badu, Akuapem Poloo, Praye Tiatia and his wife Selly Galley.
Musician Sonnie Badu delivered a song ministration in honour of the late actress as mourners reflected on her life and legacy.
A tribute from Beverly’s colleagues and friends in the movie industry was read by actor Van Vicker.
“You may be gone, but your works, the passion with which you achieved them, and the impact they have had on us will remain etched in our hearts.”
Beverly’s husband also delivered an emotional tribute, expressing the pain of losing his wife.
“I cannot imagine facing tomorrow without you.”
Her children also paid tribute to their mother, remembering the love and lessons she gave them.
“Your love and lessons will stay with us forever.”
A career in film and business
Beverly Afaglo was known for her work in Ghana’s film and television industry, appearing in productions including Single Six, A Northern Affair, The Game, Return of Beyonce, Crime to Christ, Girls Connection and Never Again.
Beyond acting, she was also an entrepreneur and built her food business, Traffic Shawarma, into a growing venture with multiple branches.
Her death sparked an outpouring of grief among colleagues, friends and fans, who have continued to celebrate her contribution to Ghana’s creative industry.
The final funeral rites include a memorial service and tributes from family, friends and colleagues before her private burial.
A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, at Action Chapel International in Tema.
Beverly Afaglo is survived by her husband, their daughters, her mother, siblings and other family members.
