Ghanaian Hip-Hop Artiste, Joey B, born Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin, says he is not fond of social outings and often feels out of place in clubs to the extent that he can fall asleep there. He attributes his introverted nature to the experience of repeating a class during his school years.
The artiste, known for hits such as Tonga and U x Me, opened up about his personality during an interview today, sharing insights into his social life and industry hangouts.
“I’m not the outgoing type. I can literally sleep beside the speakers in a club. Like, I want to disappear,” Joey B said.
Joey B linked his reserved personality to an academic setback he experienced while in school.
“Getting repeated in school made me an introvert,” he said.
Despite working in the music industry, which is often associated with nightlife and public appearances, Joey B said his personal comfort level differs from what is typically expected of artistes.
Speaking about his new nine-track EP, Sexy Highlife, which is scheduled for release today, Joey B confirmed guest appearances from Bosom P-Yung and highlife veteran Bisa Kdei, whom he described as a legend.
Other songs set to appear on the project include Exopa, News at 7, and Princess.
