Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., a Ghanaian Reggae-Dancehall Artist has revealed that he will use his Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) royalties to file his tax returns. He made this comment publicly via his Twitter handle when @Kafui Dey tweeted that “Shatta Wale’s Money with GHAMRO is over GHC 30, we’re only waiting for his management to bring us his details so that the money will be paid into his account- Rex Omar, Former Chairman GHAMRO”.

According to Rex Omar who is the former Chairman, GHAMRO, stated that “GHAMRO has not been operating to a hundred percent but it is a work in progress”. He added that Shatta Wale is the highest earner when it comes payment of royalties in Ghana.

He said “Shatta your money still Dey so come collect your money and hype GHAMRO to others so that we can do more”.

Rex Omar further gave some education on how payment of Royalties is done and concluded by revealing that

“GHAMRO is working and we need all the right owners on board, yes I know GHAMRO is not doing much but as a developing country, there will be some challenges and that is why I offered myself to help change the system which is happening”.

He advised Musicians to take compositions on songs very serious especially when it is their original composition because one can always own rights to it even after several years.
