With the Yuletide season here again, the Ga-South Municipality is continuing with its empowerment of young women with the grand finale of Miss Weija-Gbawe, which is set for December 30, 2023, at the forecourt of the Weija-Gbawe Palace to climax the Christmas celebration.

Miss Weija-Gbawe is an annual social event organized for residents within the Weija-Gbawe Municipality. It provides opportunities for young and talented girls to showcase their beauty and display their cultural heritage to the audience.

Belinda, a contestant, shared that “the pageantry over the years has boosted the confidence of young girls in the municipality and has enabled a closure between authorities and gatekeepers of the communities and the youth.”

“With the experience, it was amazing and rewarding as it has allowed me to connect to the authorities and gatekeepers of the Municipal. It has also given me more confidence to help develop my community and, as a young lady, it has helped me to follow my dreams,” She explained.

Residents who have shown keen interest in the pageantry also expressed their reactions to the show. They mentioned that the initiative has empowered the young girls in the municipality.

“It has thrown a limelight on the Weija-Gbawe municipal, and we have realized that our municipal can also do so much better by projecting young ladies and talented ones within the municipal, which is an achievement.” They added

Some residents also said that, “through this program, the young ladies bring out projects where they collaborate with other health organizations to organize health screening and educate the residents about their health,” They highlighted.
