Popular Nigerian actor Ray Emodi has announced his decision to quit acting and pursue a career in music, citing long-term struggles with anxiety and concerns about his mental well-being.
In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Emodi said: “I have stopped acting in films. I quit.” He explained that although he never imagined making such a statement, the pressures of the industry and personal health challenges made the decision necessary.
Reflecting on his experiences in Nollywood, he described working under dangerous conditions. “I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots… and we were still shooting,” he said, highlighting the risks sometimes involved in film production.
The actor noted that his choice has not been fully supported by his family. “This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this… I respect their decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name,” he stated.
Despite stepping away from acting, Emodi reassured fans that he is not leaving the spotlight. “I love music. I have always loved music… I want you guys to come with me on this journey,” he said, inviting supporters to follow his transition into music.
