Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, has disclosed one of the advantages of marrying older men.

The 64-year-old spoke during her recent appearance on TVC program, ‘Your View’.

The screen Icon, Joke Silva got married to actor Olu Jacob, who is 20 years older, in 1985.

Discussing their love journey on the program, Joke stated that older men allows women to get away with a lot of things.

While noting that it wasn’t love at first sight for her, she explained, “Yes we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacob who was coming, except me. When he came, we got on very well and it was after we started dating that I discovered his age because he looked so good.

“For him, it was love at first sight but for me, it wasn’t. These older men allows you to get away with a lot of things.”

The Nollywood legend, Olu Jacob, got married at age 44 to Joke Silva, who was 24 at the time. Their union is blessed with two children and is considered one of Nollywood’s most enduring unions.

Joke Silva is a veteran Nigerian actress, director and producer, widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s pioneers. Born in Lagos in 1961, she trained in drama in the United Kingdom before building a successful career in theatre, film and television.

She has starred in numerous acclaimed productions and is recognised for her strong, versatile roles. Beyond acting, she co-founded the Lufodo Group, supporting film production and talent development in Nigeria.
