The Oscars is introducing a new awards category for outstanding achievement in popular film.

It’s among three changes approved on Tuesday by the Academy’s board of governors.
It means box office hits such as Black Panther and The Greatest Showman could be more likely to pick up an award.
It is unclear, however, whether the change will come into effect in time for the next Oscars ceremony in February.
In a message to its member the Academy said eligibility requirements for the new category and other key details would be “forthcoming”.
