Professor Kwabena Nketia: Renowned musicologist to be laid to rest May 4

Renowned Ghanaian Ethno musicologist, Professor JH Kwabena Nketia, will be given state burial Saturday, May 4.

The ceremony will be preceded by a pre-burial service at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

Professor Nketia who is considered Africa’s premier Musicologist, died at age 97 on March 13, this year.

His funeral will be characterised by lots of rich Ghanaian cultural displays and performances by the Winneba Youth Choir and the Emmanuel Congregation Choir, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Madina New Road, where he fellowshipped.

Sharing their fond memories of Prof. Nketia, his two daughters, a Retired Historian, Professor Akosua Perbi and a Lawyer, Reverend Priscilla Naana Nketia said their father will be remembered for his music and interest in culture.

A Book of Condolence has been opened at his residence.
