Ghanaian dancehall musician Ras Kuuku has expressed confidence in his songwriting abilities, saying he considers himself a better songwriter than artificial intelligence (AI).
He acknowledged that AI has become increasingly capable of generating creative content but maintained that human creativity, originality and personal experience remain essential to songwriting.
Speaking in an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Ras Kuuku shared his views on the growing influence of AI in the music industry.
He cautioned artistes against becoming overly reliant on AI in the creative process, stressing the importance of developing their own songwriting skills and maintaining originality.
According to Ras Kuuku, excessive dependence on AI could expose an artiste’s limitations during live performances, particularly when performing with a live band, where musicians are required to demonstrate their ability to genuinely deliver and connect with their music.
He therefore encouraged artistes to invest in developing their songwriting and performance abilities rather than relying heavily on artificial intelligence.
