Today marks the seventh Anniversary of the alleged drowning of popular Ghanaian Hiplife Singer and Songwriter, Castro, known in private life as Theophilus Tagoe.

Castro got missing with Janet Bandu on July 6, 2014 at the Ada Estuary during a holiday.

They are likely to be officially pronounced dead today in accordance with the Evidence Act of 1975, Section 33, which states that a person can only be declared legally dead after seven years by a court, where the person in question has not been seen or heard from in seven years despite diligent and persistent efforts to find him.

However, some Ghanaians especially fans of Castro are of the conviction that he is alive and will soon bounce back to life.

Others believe since his body has not been recovered, he is enjoying life in a hideout for fear of being imprisoned for the murder of his partner, Janet Bandu.

Castro and Janet Bandu were reported to have drowned following a Jet Ski accident at the Ada Estuary on July 6, 2014, while on holiday with the Gyan brothers.

A thorough search by the Police for their bodies proved futile, though the jet ski involved in the accident was recovered on the same day of the disaster.

The two remain missing till date. Since the disappearance, some have claimed to have seen Castro in various locations around the continent. By the Laws of the country, Castro and Janet Bandu can only be declared legally dead by a court after seven years.

GBCNEWS spoke to a Law Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Justice Abdulai, who said although the law gives mandate to declare them dead; it will be difficult to do that, because there must be consultations with the immediate family.

Mr. Abdulai recommended that it will be appropriate to publish him as a missing person for an additional year before officially pronouncing him dead.

Some of his followers believe “Castro the Destroyer” is still alive and are hopeful of his return.

To some Ghanaians he is dead because there has been no sign of him for seven consecutive years.

Ghanaians, mostly fans of the “Under Fire” are still optimistic; Castro will be back with a bang with a new album. But when and how remain a mystery.
