Rihanna is the latest star to officially tell the US President to stop using her music at his political rallies.
The Barbadian singer is threatening legal action after her 2008 track, Don’t Stop the Music, was played at Trump’s Chattanooga rally.
Rihanna – aka Ms. Fenty – had her team send an official letter to the White House, which has been obtained by Rolling Stone magazine.
It reads: “It has come to our attention that President Trump has utilized [Rihanna’s] musical compositions and master recordings, including her hit track Don’t Stop the Music, in connection with a number of political events held across the United States.
“As you are or should be aware, Ms. Fenty has not provided her consent to Mr. Trump to use her music. Such use is therefore improper.
Like Taylor Swift and many other music stars Rihanna has publicly come out in support of a Democratic Party candidate in today’s US Mid-Term elections.
On Sunday, Washington Post reporter Philip Rucker tweeted that the crowd were “loving it” when the song in question came on at Trump’s Republican rally in Tennessee.
Rihanna responded saying: “Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up philip!”
The 30-year-old joins the likes of The Rolling Stones, Pharrell Williams, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and the Prince estate in warning Trump over the use of their music.
