Shatta Wale has dismissed long-standing rumours that he once ate the Quran or slept in a coffin as part of a ritual for fame.

Speaking on PrimeTime with George Nii Armah Quaye, the 40-year-old dancehall artist described such claims as lies spread by people who misunderstand his faith and journey.

“I heard rumours some time ago that Shatta Wale took some pictures of the Quran and went to lie in a coffin for three months. People said that’s how I became successful. It’s all false,” he said.

He clarified that he had lived in a Muslim community during his youth and developed deep respect for Islamic practices.

“Yes, I lived in a Muslim community and learned from them, but I never did anything like that. People like to listen to lies, that’s one of the things killing us as Africans,” he noted.

The ‘Street Crown’ hitmaker also emphasized his belief in discipline and hard work, attributing his success to consistency rather than superstition.

“I focused, planned, and worked hard. God showed me direction, and that’s how I got here,” he added.

Shatta Wale is set to celebrate his birthday on Saturday, October 17, 2025, with an event at the Black Star Square.

The event, dubbed ShattaFest, will mark the first edition of the celebration and aims to acknowledge his fans for their continued support.
