Shatta Wale’s media and public relations manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah (Sammy Flex), has announced that the dancehall artist has been released by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and has gone home after his detention over a yellow Lamborghini tax investigations.
The announcement was made around 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, during a demonstration outside EOCO’s office, where hundreds of loyal fans had gathered demanding the release of the artist.
“Shatta Wale has been freed, he’s gone home,” Sammy Flex told the cheering crowd. Initially granted bail at GHC10 million with two sureties, the artist’s bail conditions were later reviewed and reduced to GHC5 million with two sureties, leading to his release on Thursday, August 21.
Despite the news, some fans insisted on seeing the musician themselves before dispersing. Many had been at the EOCO premises since morning, singing Shatta Wale’s songs, holding placards, and showing strong support.
Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, had earlier reported himself to EOCO on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, along with his lawyer Cephas Biyuo , to assist with investigations.
The investigation is centered on Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini, with EOCO reportedly looking into irregularities in how the vehicle was imported. The office has yet to release full details, but the case has sparked major public and industry interest.
The artist’s management has since thanked fans for their support and loyalty throughout the situation.
