Friday, February 8, marks exactly a year that the dancehall queen, Ebony Reigns died. But her fans still believe Ebony Reigns still reigns even in her death with her music. Her songs dominated the airwaves. Her brand and beauty were captivating.

The “90s Bad Girl”, as she would affectionately call herself, was of her own unique style and gait, and a household name among music lovers in Ghana. She faced no competition either from her female counterparts or the male artistes in 2017.

She was the first female singer in Ghana to win the overall artiste of the year in the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Award. But the “The 90s Bad Girl”, like many other bubbling Ghanaian celebrities such as Suzzy Williams, Kwame Ansah, and Terry Bonchaka, Ebony left the stage too early.

She died at age 20 in a car crash on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway on February 8, last year, together with her friend, Franky Kuri and a bodyguard, Francis Vondee. Ebony Reigns is credited with hit songs such as ‘Kupe’, ‘Poison’, ‘Sponsor’, ‘Date your father’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Maame Hw3’, and ‘Aseda.’
