Tourism Ministry to invest GHS5 million in Creative Arts Industry

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is to invest five million Ghana Cedis into the transformation of the Creative Arts Industry.

To this end, the Sector Minister, Mohammed Awal has asked players in the industry to identify two pertinent issues within the industry to be solved with the money within the next two years.

Mr.Awal made the request at a stakeholders’ dialogue with players in the industry in Accra. In response, reggae dance hall artiste Shatta Wale asked the minister to focus more on the music industry.

Speakers at the star event described the dialogue as crucial to the transformation of the creative arts industry.

Personalities from the Music, film and tourism industries such as Rex Omar, Ayigbe Edem, John Dumelo, Samini and Prince David Osei attended the programme.

They were hopeful the dialogue, which is expected to be frequent under the new Minister will not be a nine days’ wonder.
