Veep Dr. Bawumia celebrates Kobine festival with chiefs and people of Lawra

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday joined the Paramount Chief of the Lawra Traditional Area, Naa Abeifaa Karbo III, the Chiefs and the People of Lawra in the Upper West region to climax the commemoration of the 43rd edition of the Kobine festival.

Dr. Bawumia urged the Paramount Chief Naa Abeifaa Karbo and the people to continue to be supportive and cooperative toward the policies that are being rolled out by the government.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia says by the end of November 2019, 80% of all road contractors owed by government will receive full payment for their certificates whilst the remaining 20 % who are likely to be what termed “the very, very big contractors” will initially receive 40% of the amount payable to them.

Adding the government will clear the rest over the subsequent periods.

“The remaining 20% will be paid 40% of what they are owed now and the balance will be paid subsequently. This should bring major relief to our contractors across the country.”

Vice President Dr. Bawumia made these known in a tweet.

This years’ celebrations was in series and was on the theme: “Protecting our Environment- Key to Ensuring our Future Food Security.”

He was presented with the traditional attire of the people of the area.
