Burial service held for renowned Musicologist Prof Kwabena Nketia

A burial service has been held at the State House in Accra for renowned Musicologist Emeritus Professor Kwabena Nketia.

The funeral was attended by President Akufo-Addo, the First Lady Rebecca, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and some prominent dignitaries of the State.

In a sermon, the officiating Minister, J.O.Y Mante advised the youth to tap into the experience and knowledge of the elderly when they are alive to enrich their lives.

President Akufo-Addo described the late Prof. Nketia him as a man of integrity and cultural stalwart.

In a tribute, his daughters described him as an inspiration, supportive and the best thing that ever happened to them.

Last night, a musical festival was held in his honour at the National Theatre in Accra in collaboration with the Music Department of the University of Ghana Legon.

Professor Nketia who is considered Africa’s premier Musicologist, died at age 97 on the 13th of March.
