Coronavirus: President Akufo-Addo announces incentive packages to frontline workers

President Akufo-Addo has given health care workers in the frontline of the COVID-19 fight a three month tax holiday beginning this month.

An additional allowance of 50|% of basic salary per month for the next three months will also be enjoyed by these workers.

An insurance package of GHC350,000 for each health personnel and allied professional at the forefront of the fight has also been put in place, and a daily allowance of 150 Ghana cedis is being paid to contact tracers.

He said the Ministry of Transport had made available free ‘Aayalolo’ buses to convey health workers in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa to and from work, along specific routes, for the entire duration of the restrictions.

On personal protective equipment, President Akufo-Addo said 350,000 masks, 558, 650 examination gloves, 1000 reusable goggles and 20,000 cover-alls have been procured and sent for onward distribution.
