Security Expert and Senior Research Fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, Dr. Ken Ahorsu, says the country does not need extra security force.

He noted that existing security agencies have intelligence units and there is no need to create a new security unit.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana on the President’s decision to create a new intelligence unit, Dr. Ahorsu stressed, that existing laws should rather be enforced to fight crime.

He said such a force is likely to undermine the existing security agencies and may lead to human rights abuses.
