Former President John Dramani Mahama has asked government to fulfill its promise to pay teacher trainees and nursing students allowances owed them.

He was addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Ada, to wrap up his five day campaign tour of the Greater Accra region.

Mr Mahama said prior to the 2016 elections, the NDC administration stated its intention to shift students unto the loans scheme in order to save some money for infrastructure development.

But the New Patriotic Party (NPP), then in opposition, criticised the decision and promised the teacher trainees and student nurses allowances when elected.
