The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Ghana Amputee Football Association (GAFA), has embarked on a campaign to seek air ticket sponsorship for the national team’s participation in the upcoming Amputee Football World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 24 to November 24.

The IMC has been knocking on the doors of individuals and corporate entities to adopt the air tickets of the members of the delegation to ensure that Ghana takes part in the competition and possibly win the cup.

“Our appeal goes to all Ghanaians, corporate bodies and philanthropic organizations to endeavor to adopt a ticket or two of the delegation so the team can make it to this crucial event,” Rev. Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, the IMC Chairman said.

He disclosed that, the IMC is also looking up to government to fund the trip but in view of the financial pressure on the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA), there was the need for other entities to complement their efforts.

“We are not ruling out support from the NSA and Sports Ministry, who instituted this Committee, with a clear-cut mandate, but we believe in the need to appeal to Ghanaians in general, to also offer some support to the team,” Rev Adesah said.

He said, some responses were coming from some quarters, but not concrete enough to indicate that the team is making it to the most prestigious event in the amputee football world.

Ghana is pooled in Group B, with Argentina, France and Italy, with two teams expected to make it to the next round of the World Cup.

The Black Challenge, the Amputee Football National Team of Ghana, are poised to make it to the next round in order to be in pole position for the ultimate.

The IMC is appealing to companies to endeavor to sponsor air tickets of the team, whilst calling on Ghanaians in general to contribute at least One Ghana Cedi through the One Ghanaian, One Ghana Cedi project.

The code for contribution is *713*3907# on all the mobile networks in the country. It is also calling for support in kind towards the residential camping of the players, which would soon begin ahead of the team’s departure.
Ghana for Gold.
