The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), has stressed the need for government to provide better conditions of service for teachers rather than the continuous paying of lip service.
According to GNAT, more than seven thousand teachers leave the teaching profession annually due to lack of government’s commitment to address the plight of teachers.
Deputy Secretary of GNAT in charge of Professional Development, Gifty Apanbil said the attrition is too high and alarming, and might have a serious repercussion in the education sector.
Madam Apanbil was speaking at the 57th Annual GNAT/CTF Professional training workshop in Hohoe for teachers in the Volta and Oti regions.
