Gov't to set up committee to auction Menzgold property to settle customers

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has confirmed that Gold dealership firm Menzgold owes customers 200 million cedis.

He said government will set-up a committee to auction the property of the firm to settle customers, emphasising that government will not use tax payers money to bailout customers of Menzgold.

This came up during a question and answer time at a Dubar of Oofficers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) with President Akufo-Addo.

His comments follow a complaint by a Military Officer to President Akufo-Addo to use his high office to intervene for the officers to get their money.

But Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta made the stance of the government clear on the Menzgold issue.

President Akufo-Addo advised the officers to be wary of ponzy schemes.
