The Minority spokesperson on finance and Ranking Member on Finance Committee in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson has accused the vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of “cooking up” the controversial drone agreement.
Addressing the Journalists shortly after the agreement was passed, the MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency said, “the partisan manner in which the agreement was pushed through was bad,” stressing the point that, “this deal was cooked at the Vice President office and we wanted his excellency to come and speak to the matter because we know that it is his office that worked on it. Even at the committee level, it is his people who came and defended it.”
He went on saying, “we the Minority opposed this deal. We think that, it is a rip-off. In fact partisanship is killing this country, we know some members of the majority were not in support but because of partisanship, they are supporting it. It is sad day for Ghana, we have opposed it but unfortunately they used their number to pass the zipline.”
The MP gave the indication that, they are not going to rest to have the deal reversed.
Meanwhile, the Service Agreement between the Government of Ghana, represented by the Ministry of Health and Fly Zipline Ghana Limited for the delivering of emergency health and blood products to the public health facilities in Ghana, was passed Tuesday December 11, 2018 via headcounts; 102 to 58 in favour of the Majority.
According to the original report signed by Dr. Kwabena Twum-Nuam, “Zipline guarantees average emergency delivery time of less than an hour, at least 150 flights/distribution center/day and all technical performance characteristics (range, payload among others).”
Service fee: $88,000.00 per distribution center per month when fully deployed.
