MoH, Pharm Access Foundation to launch digital platform for medicines

Ministry of Health (MoH) is leveraging on digital technology to help eliminate fake and sub-standard medicines in the country.

In this regard, the Ministry, and the Pharm Access Foundation in collaboration with the Christian Health Association of Ghana will tomorrow (November 8) launch in Accra a digital platform for medicines known as Blockchain.

This will directly connect trusted manufacturers of medicines to healthcare providers and pharmacies to tackle fake and substandard medicines menace.

The Country Director of Pharm Access Foundation and a member of the WHO Roster of Experts, Dr. Maxwell Antwi announced this at a media encounter in Accra.

Dr. Antwi said the digital platform initiative is the first in the world of medicines.

The WHO Roster of Experts member said the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection are being connected to the National Identification card to achieve universal healthcare coverage.

Dr. Antwi said the NHIA in collaboration with the PharmAccess Foundation has digitised NHIS Claims.
