President Akufo-Addo files nomination; selects VEEP Bawumia as running mate

President Akufo-Addo has filed his nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential elections scheduled for April 25, this year (2020).

The President who is the only candidate to have picked nomination forms selected Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as his running mate.

This was the atmosphere as hundreds of supporters of the NPP thronged the Party’s Headquarters to throw their weight behind the leader of the party.

Members of Parliament from the Greater Accra region were also there to support the President as he filed his nomination.

The President after delivering the State of the Nation Address in Parliament moved to submit the forms. He was welcomed by a cheerful crowd of supporters clad in party colours.

His forms were received by the Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay flanked by other national executives.

The President later addressed the teeming crowd and urged them to turn out in their numbers to participate in the upcoming voter registration exercise scheduled for April 18.

President Akufo-Addo jabbed the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama for not having a policy.

The President as the sole contestant will be elected by popular acclamation during the party National Congress to be held simultaneously across the country on the 25th of April.
