State Institutions to patronise locally produced rice from January 2020

President Akufo-Addo says by the first of January next year (2020), government will direct all state Institutions to patronise the consumption of locally produced rice known as Ghana rice as a way to boost the morale of farmers to grow the economy.

He said efforts will be made to sustain this aggressively.

The President was addressing Journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House in Accra.

He also hinted of the establishment of a Tree Crop Development Authority to ensure that the development of other cash crops like cashew, oil palm and mango are developed to shift the focus off cocoa as the only cash crop of the country.

He added that parliament is likely to consider this before ending its last session for the year.

Touching on the One-District-One Factory Project, President Akufo-Addo said 58 of them are currently operational while 26 are under construction and will be operational by the second and third quarters of next year.

On the cancellation of the December 17 Referendum, President Akufo-Addo said it is high time Ghanaians accepted the reality of the Partisan influence at the local level of governance.

He disagreed with the latest Afrobarometer survey by the CDD that downgraded government’s implementation of its campaign promises.

The President also indicated government has taken delivery of 160 Ambulances which have arrived into the country and will be commissioned by January 6, 2020.

Touching on the Financial Sector Cleaning, President Akufo-Addo said it was the best of options to save the situation. He assured Ghanaians of access to their locked-up funds.
