President Akufo-Addo says by the first of January next year (2020), government will direct all state Institutions to patronise the consumption of locally produced rice known as Ghana rice as a way to boost the morale of farmers to grow the economy.

He said efforts will be made to sustain this aggressively.

The President was addressing Journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House in Accra.

He also hinted of the establishment of a Tree Crop Development Authority to ensure that the development of other cash crops like cashew, oil palm and mango are developed to shift the focus off cocoa as the only cash crop of the country.

He added that parliament is likely to consider this before ending its last session for the year.

On the cancellation of the December 17 Referendum, President Akufo-Addo said it is high time Ghanaians accepted the reality of the Partisan influence at the local level of governance.

He disagreed with the latest Afrobarometer survey by the CDD that downgraded government’s implementation of its campaign promises.

The President also indicated government has taken delivery of 160 Ambulances which have arrived into the country and will be commissioned by January 6, 2020.
