Thirteen Member Peace Council Inaugurated in Tamale

A thirteen (13) member regional peace Council has been inaugurated and tasked to help minimize tensions and conflicts in the region.

The thirteen member committee is made up of traditional authorities, civil society organizations, religious organizations and women’s groups.

The council will be working with the regional, metropolitan, municipal and district security councils to promote peace in the region.

The Chairman of the council, Reverend Philip Naameh, used the occasion to assure residents of the region of their commitment towards the peace and security of the region.

Most Reverend Philip Naameh who is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale has assured Ghanaians that the council with work to redeem the image of the northern region.

He explained that, the region has earned a negative tag as a conflict prone region and sometimes turns some people away.

Reverend Philip Naameh therefore appealed to government through the Northern Regional Coordinating Council to support it to execute its mandate.
