In the heart of Accra, an environmental champion is tackling one of Ghana’s most pressing challenges—plastic pollution—one brick at a time.

Meet Togbe Ghana, founder of LETSGOCLEANTHEBEACH&RECYCLING, a registered company with a bold mission: to clean Ghana’s coastline and give discarded plastic a second life. His initiative is not just a call to action—it’s a movement built on results.

A one-man movement with a big vision

Unlike many who wait for change, Togbe Ghana is creating it. Week after week, he mobilises beach clean-ups across Accra, bringing together paid workers and passionate volunteers to remove tonnes of plastic waste from the city’s shores.

But his work doesn’t end there.

The collected plastic is carefully sorted and recycled into pavement bricks—an innovative and sustainable alternative to traditional building materials. These eco-bricks are strong, weather-resistant, and more affordable, turning pollution into practical infrastructure.

From waste to worth

By transforming plastic waste into useful products, Togbe Ghana is promoting a circular economy, where nothing goes to waste. His model not only addresses environmental degradation but also creates local employment opportunities, especially for youth and low-income workers.

This grassroots-led effort is proof that with vision, determination, and community support, Ghana can tackle its plastic waste crisis head-on—and build a cleaner, greener future.

Call to action

As Ghana continues to battle the effects of pollution and climate change, initiatives like LETSGOCLEANTHEBEACH&RECYCLING highlight the power of individual action and innovation. Togbe Ghana’s story is a reminder that environmental change doesn’t always start in boardrooms—it often begins with a single person, a clear mission, and a commitment to act.
