A 29-year-old Senior High School graduate has taken a bold step to venture into a female-dominated business, selling cone ice cream after his dreams of attaining tertiary education were dashed by financial difficulty and poverty.

Frank Kwasi Nyuah decided to enter into this business after engaging in several menial jobs just to make ends meet. This new hope brought him to the capital of Ghana, Accra and Abelenkpe to be precise, on the invitation of an old schoolmate.

Frank said he initially started off by selling fan ice and yoghurt but he could not make much profit hence, his decision to go into the cone ice cream business, a simple wafer dessert.

“I recognized that there was not much for me to do considering the situation in which I found myself, so I decided to venture into the cone ice business, even though it is dominated by women,” he explained.

According to him, on a good day, he is able to make a profit of a hundred Ghana cedis (GHC100.00) commuting from Alajo to the 37 Military Hospital, through to Accra Mall and East Legon to mention but a few.

He has been doing this business for a little over three years now and indicates that he has never regretted venturing into that business.

Frank, who hails from the Bono Region, says he is determined to work hard to take good care of his family and realize his dream of becoming an Electrical Engineer or perhaps travel outside for greener pastures.

Despite his poor background, he has worked hard to rent a house in Accra and is currently, the breadwinner of his family. He also owns a three-acre cashew farm back in his home region.

Asked to share some tit bits with the youth, this is what Frank had to say; “I sometimes see people begging. Once you are an able-bodied person, you need to work. There is no useless work or money and whatever your hands find doing, you must do it well.”
