Former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has been rearrested just after being granted bail in a separate GHS49 million cybersecurity case.‎

‎His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, told journalists that the new charge relates to equipment and secure internet services provided to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL). The technology was reportedly meant to help monitor water pipelines remotely for security and maintenance purposes.‎

‎“I understand it involves national security support for the Ghana Water Company to help them monitor their pipelines from a distance,” Atta Akyea explained after a court hearing in Accra on May 13.‎

‎The lawyer raised concerns that the actions taken against his client may seem personal. He called for fairness and urged that Adu-Boahene be given the opportunity to defend himself properly.‎

‎This new development comes after an Accra High Court, presided over by Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante, ordered the prosecution to submit all witness statements by May 20, 2025.

The judge also stressed the need to protect the rights of the accused and called for a speedy trial.
