Captain and Forward of the Black Stars, Andrè Dede Ayew has broken the silence on his penalty miss out revealing some personal battles he had to fight.
“Personally, it has been a very difficult moment for me in the past few days. I lost my godson the morning before the Portugal game and my daughter was also rushed to the hospital after the Uruguay game. Thanks to the almighty Allah she’s getting better,” he said in an Instagram post.
He also expressed his optimism for his future in the Black Stars.
“These difficult moments will inspire me to come back stronger and better in the future and so I believe, will the Black Stars. In our true Ghanaian spirit, WE WILL NEVER SAY DIE, UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN. WO KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA,” he added.

This comment has attracted mixed reactions from some scores of football lovers with most celebrities rallying their support behind the Black Stars captain
On the other hand, some Ghanaians could not hide their disappointment arguing that Dede Ayew should not have played if he knew he was not mentally fit.
The match between Ghana and Uruguay on December 2, 2022, at the Al Janoub stadium was a “do-or-die” battle of vengeance for many Ghanaians.
However, the Black Stars of Ghana could not rewrite history in their favor after Andrè Ayew failed to score Kudus’ penalty gift to the Black Stars in the 20th minute of the game, leading to Ghana’s 2-0 loss to the Uruguayan side.
